We commonly see areas in homes that are insulated very poorly. This was one such case. The only thing from keeping cold air from infultrating the bedroom floor was about 2 inches of fiberglass. That equates to around an R- 7 or so. We added this vapor barrier and fiberglass sheeting to bring the R value up to around an R-20, and more importantly, the vinal barrier stops airflow from entering the room.
