How To Install A Solar Attic Gable Fan

Updated: May 27

Solar attic gable fan installation is an easy project for experienced do-it-yourselfers and those with experience in home renovations. If you are not an experienced craftsman, do not try to install a solar attic gable fan without the help of an expert as you may inadvertently cause severe damage to your home.

To install your new QuietCool solar attic gable fan, you'll first need to gather your tools. Here's what you'll need:

Electric Drill

Phillips Drill Bit

Phillips Screwdriver

Screws

Roof Adhesive

Ladder

Gather all your solar attic fan components and read through your QuietCool owners manual to ensure you understand all of the steps and requirements before your installation.

Once your tools and components are gathered, and you understand the installation process, it's time to find the best location for your fan. Once you find the location of your solar attic gable fan, head to your roof.

Find the contact points between the roof and the backside of the solar panel. Apply adhesive to the roof and firmly secure the panel to the surface, making sure to leave one inch of clearance between the panel and the next roof tile.

Next, run the solar panel plug-in cord from the solar panel into the attic through the gable vent. Use zip ties or another type of fastener to secure and conceal the cord. Be sure to include a drip curve in the cord to ensure no water can run down the cord and into the attic through the gable vent.

Inside your attic, fasten the fan to the gable vent frame studs. Once the fan is fastened, tighten the 8 mounting bracket nuts to secure the fan flush to the gable vent.

Connect the fan to your solar panel plug-in module.

Your QuietCool Solar Attic Gable Fan will automatically turn on if there is sunlight and the temperature is above 75-degrees.

If your QuietCool Attic Gable Fan has a solar inverter, plug the inverter cable into the power outlet for 24/7 ventilation.

All done!
